About Me

My name is Stefan and I've been the sole operator of Flow Art Manufacture since 2018.

When I started playing poi in the mid-2000s, this art form was still in its infancy. Contact Poi were the latest hit back then. Anyone who enthusiastically looked around for contact poi at the time quickly discovered that hardly any manufacturers built such poi. And those that did exist were ragged: the balls tore after a year, the ropes were thin, abrasive and badly attached to the balls. Such design flaws are easy to explain, after all, the major manufacturers of juggling items are not poi players. And that is still the case today. So it was clear: I just have to build my own poi.

First attempts directly showed the hurdles. A ball, some kind of rope and a club handle are quickly plugged together. To get in thicker ropes, which are popular these days, I simply cut the ball open, pulled the rope through and taped the cut back on. Stupid idea! At some point the ball tears and becomes a Pacman. Since then I have improved my poi construction a lot through a lot of experimentation.

At first I only had the goal of building better poi for myself. Luckily Alicia, who was selling hoops with Flow Art Manufacture at the time, brought me on board. And who would have thought: Delighting others with well-built poi is addicting!

Since then, I've been doing my best to use simple, practical and robust solutions to build props that are durable and suitable for every style of play. I only sell what I play myself - whether poi, meteor, or ropedart. That's why I have more poi and related props at home than one person can reasonably need or use - after all, every new rope needs to be extensively tested ;)

When I'm not looking for new ropes for poi, I'm usually in the kitchen and like to cook delicious, elaborate things like neapolitan pizza or ramen. I originally studied materials science. The pull of the juggling community carried me from Munich to Leipzig a few years ago. I have been organizing a variety show at the Phoenix Fire Convention since 2017. I can also be found regularly at juggling conventions throughout the year. If you see me, just chat with me there!

Flow Art Manufacture

Since 2018 I'm the sole proprietor of Flow Art Manufacture. The company was originally founded by Alicia Schrameck, who also designed our beautiful logo. Then as now, Flow Art Manufacture builds individualized flow and juggling props, with a focus on durability and tailored to the demands of the scene.

I produce all daytime and fire props by hand in Leipzig, where I share a studio with Inspinity and Schlüpferschmiede.Inspinity manufacture high-end carbon contact staffs, dragon and juggling staffs- all of which are highly recommended! And Line's Schlüpferschmiede makes the most remarkable unmentionables :)
